Songwriting
Corinna is a vocalist, songwriter, performer and recording artist with experience spanning decades. Corinna is known for her explosive vocal power, soulful timbre and singular range. Her strengths lie in the soul, blues and rock genres, although she has sung almost every genre from classical to swing to metal.
Corinna gained what might best be described as a ‘rock-and-roll education’ at secondary school, participating in an innovative music programme including gigs, tours, songwriting and recording sessions. Corinna continued her musical studies at a tertiary level, whilst singing and performing in original rock bands at night. In addition to holding a double degree as a Teacher-Librarian, Corinna also has an Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Business) at NMIT, giving her an expansive knowledge of music copyright, contracts, marketing, event and artist management. She received the Dux award for Best Student in 2007.
Corinna has gigged and recorded extensively, with appearances at countless venues including the Melbourne Town Hall, the Athenaeum and the Hi-Sense Arena. The Entertainment Manager of the Hard Rock Café described her as “the female Robert Plant”. Corinna worked solidly in the covers scene for a decade, performing material by artists such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Renee Geyer and Janis Joplin. Some of Corinna’s career highlights to date include singing live on M.T.V. as part of the group Magic Circle Club, who were finalists in the 1991 Yamaha Rock Awards, spontaneously performing with soul veteran Wilson Pickett at the Palais Theatre and creating her own record label, Phonoscope Productions, in 2007. The label has released several recordings by her indie rock band, Liminal. Liminal’s first single, Galaxy, was described as “something of a lost art” and the latest EP, Megafauna, said to hark back “to an age when rock was an apex predator”.
Most recently, Corinna has been inundated with requests from the world of electronic music. The Chase EP, created with nu-disco producer Mark Lower of France, hit #3 on the Beatport dance charts. A deep house EP entitled Love Getaway (Escape) reached #13 on the iTunes Australia Dance charts. Corinna is currently working with 25 overseas musical partners on new recording projects.
Corinna has a message for prospective students, which is this: “I could not be the singer I am today without the incredible assistance of my original teacher, Olga. I would like to offer that same support to other singers out there. I can help you to develop solid technique so that you are in control of your voice, not the other way around. I can help you to unlock power, improve your natural tone, calm your nerves and become truly comfortable with your voice, emote freely and with genuine confidence, access all of the vocal registers and much more. My lessons are a safe space. We can also work on stage performance and presence, microphone technique, songwriting - whatever is needed. Whether you wish to sing for fun, for creative fulfillment, or as a professional career, it would be my honour to assist you to develop into your full potential as a singer.”
