All ages from 4+ . We recommend inquiring for children between the ages of 4 - 12 as some teachers have preferences for teaching younger children. If your child is under 7, we recommend learning the piano because their fine motor skills are still developing and it’s the most intuitive instrument to introduce your child to music. Keep your eyes peeled for younger children workshops as they will take place as one-offs from time to time!

Yes! You can enrol into numerous lesson types within a weekly rotation. It’s also very popular to participate in one of our bands or ensembles alongside weekly enrolled lessons.
If you’re interested in two different instruments, you can take ‘back to back’ lessons weekly (for example, every Tuesday you have a guitar lesson at 4:00 and a singing lesson at 4:30). Subject to teacher availability.
You cannot switch between two instruments week by week.

Item descriptionFor sure! We offer duo and trio lessons, which at a different price point can be carried out with any of our lesson types. When inquiring about duo or trio lessons, please provide us with everyone’s name and age. Please provide separate phone numbers and email addresses applicable for anyone over 18.

Sounds like you need casual lessons! For when you…
Can’t commit to a weekly time slot
Want to try one-off lessons with few different instruments
Have an audition or exam coming up and want to practise in front of a professional
Casual lessons cost a little bit more due to their flexibility. As of 2024, our casual rates for private lessons are $50 for 30 minutes and $90 for 60 minutes.

Due to high demand for weekly enrolled lesson slots, it is not viable for us to offer enrolled fortnightly lessons. However, we do offer casual lessons - please reach out for more informaton!

If you have your own instrument, we highly recommend bringing it to your lesson!
If you don't have one, no worries. Ask your teacher about instrument recommendations, what to look for in a beginner's instrument, and local music stores to rent or buy from. We also have instruments on-site so you can just show up and start playing if you'd like!
For your reference, the teaching rooms at Firebird contain the following onsite:

When you book your first lesson at Firebird, we call it a Trial because we don’t expect you to enrol right away. We offer two non-commitment trial lessons with your chosen instrument and a teacher we’ve intentionally matched you with (based on your expressed style/vibe and your goals for music lessons). Try out two lessons commitment-free at Firebird to see we’re a match. After two trial lessons, if you decide you’re keen, it’s time to enrol!
Trial lessons cost the same as enrolled lessons of the same type length. See our current pricing scale below.
2024 prices:
